ISO 27001 preparation focuses on building an ISMS that is appropriate to the organization’s scope and can be supported with objective evidence.

The Statement of Applicability records which ISO 27001 controls are applicable to the organization, which are excluded, and the reasons supporting those decisions. It should connect logically to the organization’s risks and treatment approach. Teams should maintain it as a controlled document and ensure implementation status and supporting evidence remain consistent with its stated decisions.
